Man charged with DUI after crash with Middletown police cruiserPosted: Updated:
A New Britain man was arrested after police say he crashed into a Middletown police cruiser early Sunday morning.
According to police, 25-year-old Christopher Griffiths was arrested after he crashed his Ford Focus into the back of the police cruiser.
Officer Patrick Kiely was stopped at a red traffic control signal at the intersection of Washington Street and High Street when his cruiser was struck from behind. Kiely sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Middlesex Hospital.
Griffiths reported no injuries and was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol
and/or drugs, operating with a suspended license and traveling too fast for conditions.
The passenger of the 2012 Ford Focus, Rudy Lockhart, 24, of Bristol sustained minor injuries and was released from Middlesex Hospital. He was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
