15-year-old Ridgefield girl killed after being struck by a carPosted: Updated:
A school provided support for students Monday after a teen was struck by a car Friday night.
Officers determined 15-year-old Emma Sandhu was hit by the vehicle around 9:30 p.m. that was driving on Ridgebury Road. She was transported to Danbury Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Ridgefield High School put out a statement that said, "The Ridgefield High School community joins together to mourn the unexpected passing of sophomore Emma Sandhu. We send our sympathies and prayers to Emma's sister Moran (Class of 2013), her parent, family and friends."
The school postponed a musical Saturday while the community mourned. Its website said the performance was rescheduled until March 23.
The statement also said that counselors, psychologists and social workers would be available to students Monday. Also, comfort therapy dogs will be in certain areas of the school to aid in the process.
The investigation is still ongoing.
