The Arizona Rattlers are proud to announce its partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Phoenix in a season-long community outreach campaign to collect non-perishable food items, clothing, shoes and toiletries to benefit local families in need. The Rattlers organization has set a goal of collecting 100,000 lbs of "Hope in a Box" for the 2014 season.

While the Rattlers have participated in single-game initiatives with St. Vincent de Paul Phoenix in previous seasons, this will be the first year the organization has committed to a season-long effort. Each home game, fans will be encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, clothing, shoes or toiletries based on the current local need.

"With all the great work St. Vincent de Paul does around the Valley, we feel this partnership is a natural fit for the Rattlers," said team president, Joe Windham. "We are excited to engage our organization and our fans in a season-long initiative that will serve the needs of those less fortunate within our community."

The Rattlers, in partnership with FUGA Energy Drink, will kick off the campaign with a canned food drive at US Airways Center from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 13. For each food item donated, fans will receive one complimentary upper level ticket to the home opener on March 15 at US Airways Center, courtesy of FUGA Energy Drink. Fans can receive up to six tickets per household and availability is limited to 2,500 tickets. In the event that all tickets are not distributed on Thursday, fans may donate on Friday, March 14 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Complimentary tickets can also be used for $11 towards any upgraded seat at the US Airways Center box office.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international non-profit organization who has been serving Arizona families since 1946. They are dedicated to serving the poor and providing others with the opportunity to serve the community. Programs include services for the homeless, medical and dental care for the working poor, charity dining rooms, thrift stores, a transitional housing shelter and general assistance for individuals in need.
