CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Marcus Mooney and Tanner English each drove in two runs in a four-run ninth inning as South Carolina rallied past Clemson to sweep the rivalry series with a 5-3 victory Sunday.
Tigers reliever Clate Schmidt had two outs and two strikes on pinch hitter Brison Celek, who singled to load the bases. Mooney followed with a single to center to bring in two runners, the tying one in Grayson Greiner scoring when catcher Chris Okey couldn't hold on to the throw from center fielder Tyler Slaton.
That led to English's double near the left field line to bring in Celek and Mooney and stun most of the 6,016 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium expecting to salvage one game against South Carolina (10-0).
Cody Mincey (2-0) worked the final two innings, including a perfect ninth for the victory.
Schmidt (1-2) earned the loss for Clemson (6-4).
