PHOENIX (CBS5) -
An Arizona sex offender wanted since 2006 in Yavapai County was arrested in Mexico on Thursday afternoon.
Christopher Wayne Scalf, 32, was arrested in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico and turned over to Deputy U.S. Marshals at a port of entry and booked into jail.
Scalf had been wanted by Yavapai County Superior Court for violating his probation, and in Yavapai County for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Scalf was convicted of two counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor in 2002.
He was working at a Prescott-area fast-food restaurant when he seduced a 14-year-old girl into taking him to her mother's house, where they had sex while the mother slept. The two had sex on at least three other occasions, according to court records.
After his arrest, Scalf was sentenced to lifetime probation, but then fled the U.S.
Deputy U.S. Marshals, working closely with Yavapai County law enforcement and Mexican police through the U.S. Marshals Service's Mexico Investigative Liaison program, earlier this year developed information that Scalf was hiding out in Sonora, Mexico.
