ASU, BYU agree on future Football SeriesPosted: Updated:
Former Western Athletic Conference rivals Arizona State University and Brigham Young University have scheduled a future home-and-home series in football, Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson announced Thursday.
The games will be played on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Sun Devil Stadium/Frank Kush Field in Tempe and on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.
"This football series with Brigham Young University renews one of our oldest and most interesting rivalries," says Anderson. "These two institutions and the communities they represent enjoy a long, rich history and a lot of common bonds between them. Also, it fulfills a need for us to schedule home/home series with institutions that are located in the Western portion of the United States."
"It has been a priority of ours to schedule a future football series with Brigham Young University," says Sun Devil Head Football Coach Todd Graham. "Scheduling is so important to the overall success of a program and this is the type of matchup that we are seeking to fulfill our future openings."
ASU and BYU have meet 27 times on the football field, with ASU leading the series 20-7. ASU owns a 12-3 advantage at Sun Devil Stadium/Frank Kush Field and an 8-4 record at LaVell Edwards Stadium. ASU and BYU last played a series in 1997 and 1998 with the Cougars winning both games.
