Two people inside a Phoenix home escaped injury after a hit-and-run driver slammed into their front entryway Thursday afternoon, police said.
The 16-year-old unlicensed driver was fleeing a crash after hitting another car west of the Eleventh Avenue and Thomas Road intersection at about 3:20 p.m., said Phoenix police Sgt. James Joyner.
Joyner said the teen sped away and was going too fast to safely negotiate a turn at Thomas Road and Eighth Avenue.
As she was attempting to make a right hand turn to go southbound on Eighth Avenue, she went off the road and plowed into the residence, Joyner said.
The occupants of the home were not hurt.
"There was a full room separation between the suspect vehicle that entered the front porch of the residence and where they were actually sitting," Joyner said.
The teen suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for precautionary reasons.
Joyner said two people were in the car she hit and only one of them received minor injuries.
