Good Samaritan helps AZ family robbed by grinch

A holiday angel helps a family whose Christmas was stolen by a holiday grinch.

One by one, William Platts removes pricey items from his car, including two bikes, towels, a 37-inch flat screen TV and a card with $1,000 cash. Platts is happy to donate all this to a family in need.

"I often times think too much with this, and this time I thought with this," said Platts.

Platts saw a story about the Cruz family on CBS 5 News and knew he had to help.

Someone broke into Cruz's home on Christmas Eve and stole all their presents. Platts hopes to bring the family some holiday cheer.

"I've always had the thought of acting on these things and normally never have. This time I decided I'm going to act on it," said Platts.

And he did. Platts contacted CBS 5 News to get in touch with the Cruz family. They were moved by Platt's act of kindness.

Jesus Cruz said, "I think that it's very generous of them to help a family out that took Christmas away from my kids. I see that there really are good people out there that do watch the news."

One by one, the items are loaded onto Cruz's pick-up truck, a little late for Christmas, but in time for the new year.

Platts said, "I hope it sends a message out to people, when you have that tug at your heart, and you know what the thing is to do, and the next day you forget about it, to not forget about it."
