MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A motorcyclist was hospitalized after being sideswiped by a van Monday morning on a freeway in Mesa.
The van was traveling next to the HOV lane of U.S. Highway 60 when it was unable to stop for slowing traffic and crossed into the HOV lane and struck the motorcyclist, according to an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman.
The motorcyclist fell to the freeway and was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn Hospital for treatment, the spokesman said.
The van driver was cited for unsafe lane usage, the spokesman said.
It was the fourth motorcycle injury collision within 60 days that the same DPS officer has investigated, including a fatal crash on Loop 101, the spokesman said.
