Authorities in southern Arizona say a traffic stop in Cochise County last week led them to discovery of a large amount of cash.
Cochise County Sheriff's office spokesperson Carol Capas said their deputies were requested by the Arizona Department of Public Safety with a traffic stop on US Highway 80 near Douglas Arizona last Thursday night around 10 p.m.
Capas says the DPS asked for help from the Sheriff's Office certified drug sniffing dog, Henry.
Once Henry got a sniff of the area, his response signaled for a more extensive search of the vehicle which then resulted in authorities locating approximately $12,000 in U.S. currency, said Capas.
Capas said Henry is a 15-month-old Belgium Malinois who, along with his trainer, just graduated from their six-week K-9 school in October.
Cochise County Sheriff Dannels remarked, "We are excited that our K-9 team, beginning with Henry, is off to such a great start and we are looking forward to our other handlers and K-9 partners graduating and adding to the team!"
