PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Police are investigating an incident that started with a man throwing rocks at a bedroom window and ended in gunfire.
One of the victims reported rocks breaking windows in his home in southwest Phoenix near Laveen about 5 a.m. on Sunday and the victim saw it happen on his mobile surveillance system while he was in his bedroom. He called his brother who came to his house and they confirmed the pickup truck on the video belonged to an old friend of theirs.
The brother who came over then returned to his nearby home and saw the same vehicle in his driveway. He tried to flee, but the suspect began chasing him.
The suspect, later identified as Juan Ramirez, fired shots at the victim as he drove back to his brother's house. The victim was struck in the head by what he believes was a ricochet bullet and was cut on his forehead.
His brother came outside and began firing shots.
Police said Ramirez fired 28 rounds from a .223 rifle at the victims and hit three houses, two vehicles on the street and one car inside a garage.
Police were called and discovered a AR15 .223 rifle and an iPad were missing from the second brother's home.
Ramirez was arrested and police found the stolen items in his possession.
Ramirez faces two counts of first-degree attempted murder as well as eight additional felony charges.
