An Arizona inmate serving a life sentence in the death of a Queen Creek teen in 2007 died Monday of an apparent suicide, the Arizona Department of Corrections said.
Todd Hoke, 22, pleaded guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Amber Hess.
Hoke was admitted to the DOC's Eyman facility on June 3, 2010.
Hess was beaten and stabbed to death and her body was found burned in the desert west of Anthem on Hunt Highway.
Her parents had been gone for the weekend and when they returned home they found her missing, along with her car. They also found blood in the home.
Hoke and another boy, Nicolas Castillo, both 16 at the time, were arrested. They later confessed to the killing the girl.
