You've heard of spring cleaning. Why not give "fall cleaning" a try? Now may be the perfect time as the weather changes and we spend more time indoors. After all, you don't want to be one of those people featured on "Hoarders."
A recent MarketWatch story offers some great tips.
For instance, you'll want to get a good night's sleep. It'll put you in a good frame of mind for the tough decisions you'll have to make. As for those, you need to ask yourself some hard questions when you come across something that may need to be thrown away:
1) Do I want the next generation of my family to have this?
2) Will they actually want it?
There's probably one part of your house that drives you the most crazy because it's filled with so much junk. Focus on that first and get it out of the way. You'll feel a great sense of accomplishment and it'll give you a big incentive to get the rest of the house tidied up.
