Glitch causes Mesa 911 landline callers to get busy signal

People calling the Mesa 911 dispatch center Wednesday night had to dial it from their cell phones.

The Mesa Fire Department said CenturyLink landline customers using their landlines to call 911 in the Mesa system were getting a busy signal and not able to access the 911 system. Mesa fire began getting reports about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The glitch impacted approximately 40,000 landline customers.

Cell phone callers were able to access 911 dispatch.

Mesa Fire Department spokesman Forrest Smith said the defective switch module was back in service at 3:45 a.m. Thursday.
