A teenager is in jail on suspicion of shooting and killing a 20-year-old man during a fight Sunday night.
The 17-year-old boy was booked into the Juvenile Court Center on charges of second-degree murder.
The victim's name was not released until authorities can notify his family.
Witnesses said the pair had been arguing in the moments leading up to the shooting, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. near 300 West Sherman St.
Throughout the night, detectives followed up on leads and identified the teen as the suspect in this case, said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.
Detectives interviewed the boy Monday morning. Martos said the boy confessed to the crime.
