1 person dead after crash on Route 138 in GriswoldPosted: Updated:
A New Hampshire woman was killed after a two-car crash on Route 138 in Griswold on Tuesday morning.
A crash involving a tractor-trailer and car was reported at about 10:30 a.m. on Route 138, which is also known at Voluntown Road.
A 2013 Ford Taurus was traveling westbound on Route 138 near exit 85 when police said the driver, 73-year-old Roland Gulmond, of Seabrook, NH, failed to stop at a stop light.
The Taurus collided with a tractor-trailer, police said.
Joanne Gulmond, 75, of Seabrook, NH, died at the scene, police said. Roland Gulmond was taken to Backus Hospital with a head injury, police said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not seriously injured, police said.
Officials from the Connecticut Department of Transportation said all lanes on Route 138 near Preston Road were closed while officials investigated the crash. Route 138 was reopened by 3 p.m.
