Henderson teen sought in deaths of mother, brotherPosted: Updated:
A Henderson teen reported as a missing person after his mother and younger brother were found slain Friday was named as a suspect in their deaths Monday.
Henderson police said a warrant was issued for the arrest of Adrian Navarro, 16, on two counts of murder. He is being charged as an adult, police said.
Police said the bodies of Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and her 9-year-old son, Cesar Navarro, were found in the family's apartment near Eastern Avenue and Sunridge Heights Parkway. Family members said they had been missing for several days, according to police.
The Clark County Coroner's Office said both victims died of stab wounds to the chest.
Investigators said Adrian Navarro, the teen son of Canales-Gomez, who also lived at the apartment, hasn't been seen since Wednesday.
Originally, police said they did not consider Adrian Navarro a suspect in the case, but detectives said that by Sunday they had probable cause to arrest the teen in connection to the slayings.
Adrian Navarro was enrolled as a junior at Coronado High School, but many students FOX5 spoke with Monday afternoon said they had not heard of him.
On Saturday, the missing teenager's father, who is also named Adrian Navarro, said he doesn't want his son to be afraid. He begged his son to find a way to call his family.
