Fatal early morning crash on I-84 reported in SouthingtonPosted: Updated:
State police in Southington are investigating an early morning crash that has left two people dead.
Police were called to the area of Interstate 84 west prior to Exit 27 for reports of a car and tractor-trailer crash.
A tractor-trailer belonging to Rucorr Logistics in New Jersey was parked in the breakdown lane prior to Exit 27.
Charlie Campoverde, 20, of Southbury was operating a Honda CR-V when the vehicle drifted into the right shoulder and struck the area of the tractor-trailer.
Campoverde and his passenger, 17-year-old Aryana Youngquist of Southbury, both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The westbound right and center lanes on I-84 in Southington between exits 29 and 27 were closed for most of the day following the crash so police could investigate.
