A Maryvale Little League relying on donations and volunteers has been hit by vandals and thieves. Now the Arizona Diamondbacks are helping them get back on the field.
Police said the suspects broke into Holiday Park Little League's snack shack at 65th Avenue and Campbell.
Food items for sale were all locked inside the snack shack. It's an estimated loss of about $1,500. Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall said Tuesday morning that the organization plans to give Holiday Park Little League $1,500.
The kids in the league and those who make it all happen are at a loss for words for whoever did this.
Holiday Park Little League kids work hard both on and off the field.
The snack shack is run by parent and player volunteers. The place was once filled with hot dogs, chips, sodas and candy, until those who broke in took everything in sight.
Also inside were three bags full of baseball equipment.
The already struggling league offers parents some of the least expensive fees in the Valley.
CBS 5 News is speaking with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and will have more on the donation coming up on CBS 5 News at 5 p.m.
