A Tempe police officer pulled a car over in a routine traffic stop, and then in an unrelated incident, someone from inside a nearby home fired two rounds at the officer.

The officer was not hurt, but called for backup. Technically the area near 45th Street and Broadway Road is Phoenix jurisdiction so their SWAT officers are helping Tempe police.

Police are still looking for the man they believe fired those rounds. They identified the home where they believe the shots came from and were attempting to make contact with the people inside.
Police are asking neighbors to stay inside.
