SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said a Spartanburg man was taken to the hospital after his wife tried to run him over with her car when she discovered he was seeing another woman.
Spartanburg police said they were called to Collins Avenue and Dr. OC Kirkland Terrace after someone reported seeing a pedestrian hit by a car on Sunday about 4:30 p.m.
Police said they arrived to find a man lying on his side with a bloodied arm and complaining of back and neck pain. According to the police report, he was found about 25 feet from the road and there were tire marks from the curb, through the grass and back onto the road.
The man told police his wife had tried to run him over. Police said they spotted the car and pulled it over a short time later.
According to the report, the car's front passenger-side windshield was shattered and there was hair and blood on it along with a broken side mirror.
When they spoke with the man's wife, identified as 46-year-old Tabatha James, she said she found her husband was seeing another woman so she went to confront the woman near Collins Park, according to the report.
She said her husband then hit her in the face and grabbed her leg, but officers said they only saw a small cut on her knee, according to the report.
She told officers that when her husband walked away, she drove her car toward him and when she hit him, he hit the windshield, according to the report.
According to the Spartanburg County Detention Center's website, James was arrested and charged with aggravated criminal domestic violence and was being held on $5,000 bond.
