Police have identified a 3-month-old baby boy who died after he was found in a locked car Wednesday morning in Scottsdale.
Phoenix police said Jamison Gray was discovered in the vehicle outside of BT's Sports Pub near Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads just before noon.
Police said the father, who was not identified, works at the bar and dropped in to check on the business, but he got distracted and more than an hour went by before he realized he left his 3-month-old son in the car, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson with Phoenix police.
"He went inside for what was intended to be a short visit to check on the business," Thompson said.
Thompson said it didn't appear the car had been running and the air conditioning was not on. The father and the first officers to arrive tried to revive Jamison, but he was still unconscious when he was rushed to a Valley hospital.
Police were interviewing his father and are trying to piece together just what happened that cost the infant his life.
The father works at BT's Sports Pub as a cook. The restaurant closed Wednesday night. A sign on the door said it should reopen Thursday morning.
Not far away at the Scottsdale airport, the temperature was 102 degrees at noon.
