When fighting a growing fire at an apartment building in temperatures above 110 degrees, every minute counts.
The Phoenix Fire Department said they responded to an apartment fire about 5:30 p.m. Friday. Fire officials said it took three minutes to get to the fire in one apartment that was heading for several other units.
Phoenix fire said their ladder crew only has a few minutes to ventilate the roof to contain the fire before the room becomes to weak to stand on.
The ventilation over the apartment also increased visibility for firefighters inside, according to Phoenix fire.
The fire was contained to the one apartment. The attached apartments had minimal damage from smoke and water.
No one was hurt in the fire.
