Three people are facing charges after a two-hour standoff Friday morning at a Norwood apartment.
Police received an anonymous tip that a possible child sex abuse act was in progress around 5:15 a.m.
It was reported in the 5100 block of Montgomery Road. Police say all the lights were turned off and three suspects refused to come out of the apartment.
A SWAT team was called to the scene. Shortly after their arrival, the suspects surrendered.
Adam West, 26, was arrested on outstanding warrants. He was charged with inducing panic and obstructing justice.
Ashley Christopher, 18, was charged with obstructing justice.
Police say a 16-year-old female was charged with obstructing justice and was wanted as a runaway. A 13-year-old girl was also present in the apartment but is not facing charges.
A 9mm semi-automatic weapon was recovered from the apartment.
what we can tell, it was not a hostage situation. I believe there was somebody
in there with warrants on them and when they were finally able to talk to them,
or make contact, they did come out and surrender," explained Norwood Police Lt. Tom Williams.
Authorities say the initial claim of child abuse wasn't valid.
Traffic was blocked off on Montgomery Road and Buxton Avenue and resumed shortly before 8 a.m.
