Springfield fire causes $125,000 in damage to home

The Springfield Fire Department was called into action on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a house on Oregon Street at about 2:30 p.m.

Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that the fire appears to be electrical and that it started in the area of the kitchen.

The house suffered an estimated $125,000 in damage.

One person lives in the house, but they will stay with family for the time being.

The specific cause of the fire remains under investigation.
