PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix boy was killed and his three older siblings and mother were injured in two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, police said.
The victim is identified as 3-year-old Brian Arimendi-Virgen, who was ejected from the van. The other children, ages 5, 7 and 12, are expected to be OK. Their 26-year-old mother was also injured and is recovering at a local hospital.
Witnesses told police the minivan ran a red light at Broadway Road and Central Avenue at around 3:30 p.m., collided with a pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old man, and then rolled. Two passengers, ages 21 and 49, were in the pickup. No one in the pickup was hurt.
Officer James Holmes said "at least half of the passengers and the driver of the minivan were not properly restrained."
Holmes said there were no immediate indications of impairment and the investigation is continuing.
