ASU Football to be showcased In Pac-12 Football All-Access Series ‘The Drive’Posted: Updated:
Vice President for University Athletics Steve Patterson, Arizona State University head football coach Todd Graham and the Sun Devil football program have agreed to be the primary focus in the Pac-12 Networks' newest all-access show, "The Drive."
This exclusive, documentary-style television series will follow the 2013 team from the start of training camp through the end of the regular season, and will give Sun Devil fans an unprecedented behind-the-scenes understanding of the inner workings of the football program, both on and off the field.
"We are always looking for unique and compelling ways to showcase our football program, and the Pac-12 Networks' ‘The Drive' offers the perfect outlet," Vice President for University Athletics Steve Patterson said. "We look forward to our fans getting an opportunity to see an inside look at Sun Devil Athletics and The Sun Devil Way."
The 14-episode series will feature the student-athletes, their coaches and the support systems, and cover everything from practice and road trips to academics and community work.
ASU is one of two Pac-12 teams featured in the show, along with Cal, and using sit-down interviews, wireless microphones, locker room access and meeting room speeches, among other resources, fans will get to explore the relationship between the football program, the university and the community.
"The intimate connection between our team and our fans is one of the things that makes college athletics so special," head coach Todd Graham said. "This show is another chance to bring all of Sun Devil Nation closer to us and make them an even bigger part our family than they already are."
The one-hour season premiere is set to air on Sept. 11 and will cover fall camp and the team's season opener against Sacramento State. The next 13 episodes, starting Sept. 18 and ending Dec. 11, will be a half-hour long and air each Wednesday night at 7 pm PT. Each episode will be split between ASU and Cal, and they will contain content from the previous week of practice and the prior weekend's game. Each episode will also be re-aired throughout the week.
"The Drive" offers yet another reason to get the Pac-12 Networks, which will air nearly half of all Pac-12 football games and more than 750 live sporting events this year. Promotional clips and short teaser segments will run on Pac-12.com and TheSunDevils.com in advance of each coming week's show.
