A soldier from Glendale, who served for two decades, has died in Maryland of an apparent gunshot wound, according to Fort Hood officials.
The Fort Hood Public Affairs Office said Sgt. Peter Joseph See, 39, died on July 25 in Hyattsville, MD. In a statement Thursday, the public affairs office said the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
See entered active-duty service in August 1993 as a paralegal specialist and was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 to August 2004 and from April 2007 to June 2008.
He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Second Chemical Battalion, 48th Chemical Brigade in Fort Hood since April 2012.
Fort Hood officials said the 20-year veterans received the following awards and decorations: two Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, five Army Good Conduct Metals, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, National Defense Service Medal, Kosova Campaign Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
