Garage burns at home of couple whose son was molestedPosted: Updated:
Vandals hit the home of a couple whose son was molested by a former teacher. Police are investigating a suspicious garage fire at John and Lori Janczewski's house.
The Janczewskis woke up early Saturday morning and saw the fire in their unattached garage. John Janczewski said it sounded like a bomb going off.
Police said the garage was destroyed and siding melted on the home. They also found spray-painted letters by one of the doors.
TV5 sat down with the couple earlier this week. During the interview they criticized people for supporting their son's molester. Some teachers and board members wrote letters asking the judge to give Neal Erickson a lighter sentence.
Erickson, the former West Branch-Rose City teacher, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.
"I would have never thought in this small community that someone would burn our garage down and try to hurt us just because we're speaking out," said John Janczewski.
The Janczewskis lost everything in their garage including a lawnmower, ATV, tools and some sentimental items.
There's a Facebook group called Support The Janczewski Family.
Investigators have some leads, but they are still looking for tips. If you have any information, call the West Branch State Police Post at 989-345-0956.
