Girl Scouts raise money to train service dog for vet

A group of local Girl Scouts are doing their part to help soldiers returning from war.

On Sunday, Troop 779 hosted a talent show in Clarksville with a goal to raise enough money to train a service dog for a veteran in need.

"Service dogs can be trained to turn on lights and to sense a panic attack before the solider does," said Girl Scout Ava Ploeckelman.

Training costs about $2,500 and generally the soldier is left with the bill.

The girls raised about $3,100, which is more than enough for their cause.
