W. Springfield woman recovering after being struck by vehicle

A 73-year-old West Springfield woman was recovering Saturday night after she was struck on Friday night by a vehicle.

Sunderland police told CBS 3 that the incident happened in front of the Blue Heron restaurant on North Main Street around 9:20 p.m.

The woman was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

Her husband was also lightly struck, but refused medical treatment.

The driver who hit the couple said he did not see them crossing the street.

The incident remains under investigation.
