Saturday to mark two weeks since Tempe teen's disappearancePosted: Updated:
There is still no sign of Adrienne Salinas, who went missing from her Tempe neighborhood almost two weeks ago. The father of a missing Tempe teen said they are trying to hold out hope, but he and a forensics expert agree that with each passing day, the situation only gets worse.
Saturday will mark two weeks since Adrienne Salinas was last seen near her Tempe apartment, where she and her roommates had a party with around 40 guests.
"Life's not the same, we pretty much when we can, sleep to a nightmare," Rick Salinas said. He said he last saw his daughter the Thursday before she went missing.
"I gave her a hug, and it seemed to be a longer hug than usual, she said bye daddy," Rick Salinas said. "I had no idea that'd be the last time I'd see her before she ended up missing."
A few days later, after she and her roommates had a party, police tell us Adrienne Salinas hit a curb with her car on the way to her boyfriend's house, and called a cab to pick her up.
"What happened between 4:30 and 5 o' clock, that area when she disappeared?" Rick Salinas asked.
Police have not yet released the names of any suspects, or persons of interest. But as we first reported Thursday, they have searched the cab driver's home, and taken a DNA sample from him.
"I don't like to think that, but at this point we don't know where she's at, we want her back, we want her back safely," Rick Salinas said.
"Statistically, that is true, it's someone who is known to her," said Richard Luehring, a private investigator not connected with this case. He said police are likely taking a hard look at anyone close to Adrienne Salinas, or who had contact with her that Saturday.
"They can collect all the forensic information that they can for use further down the line, if it's necessary," Luehring said.
"We know she didn't run away, she's had a happy, fulfilling life and she had a lot of dreams and plans for her future," Rick Salinas said.
There is a car wash Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harlow's Cafe off University and Hardy to raise reward money for the case.
