A Mexican national was arrested over the weekend at the Mariposa Port of Entry for attempting to smuggle nearly 33 pounds of methamphetamine into the U.S., federal officials said.
The man was referred by U.S. Customs and Border protection officers for a secondary inspection of his vehicle after he attempted to cross the border on Saturday.
A CBP narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside the front bumper. Officers said they then removed 31 packages of crystal meth worth $509,454.
The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure.
the man was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
