Helicopter crews plan to dip water from Kaibab Lake to help fight a northern Arizona wildfire, Kaibab National Forest officials said Monday.
The Wild Bill Fire is burning northwest of Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Anglers and day users of Kaibab Lake are being urged to use caution when the helicopter dip tank is in the area. The operation will require using the back half of the lake for dipping operations.
Recreation users are urged to maintain a minimum "safety circle" of 300 feet from the helicopter at all times.
Kaibab Lake, which is located about four miles northeast of Williams off of state Route 64, remains open for use.
However, recreation users are encouraged to use other nearby lakes for activities, including fishing and boating.
