Glendale police investigate the scene of a double shooting Tuesday night.
GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Glendale police said Wednesday evening they've made an arrest in a double shooting that left a woman dead and a man wounded.
Detectives concluded interviewing Angelo Medina and are preparing to book the 22-year-old on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and the discharge of firearm into an occupied structure.
It appears the shooting stemmed from a child custody dispute, Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Brent Coombs said.
The victim is identified as 42-year-old Christina Marquez. Marquez died at a local hospital late Tuesday night.
The 36-year-old man had answered a knock at the door about 9 p.m. at the home near Grand and 59th avenues and then shut the door on the suspect when he saw he had a gun, said Glendale police Lt. Johnny Arevalo.
Medina then began firing through a window, hitting the man and Marquez, police said.
Police found the wounded man near the front door and Marquez inside.
Arevalo said the suspect ran from the scene.
The wounded man was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, Coombs said.
