ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A powerful storm system moved through North Georgia on Thursday, producing several severe thunderstorms.

A Tornado Watch was issued Thursday afternoon in anticipation of the severe weather.  Several tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings followed Thursday evening.

The strongest storms moved into far west Georgia just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening, which produced wind damage in Floyd county and a super cell that lasted over two hours.

As of 10:00 p.m. Georgia Power reported there are 7,500 outages statewide and 2,600 NW of the state.

Atlanta saw a quick line of storms move through at 11 p.m. Thursday night, with heavy rain and frequent lightning.  No severe thunderstorms were reported in Atlanta.

As the storm system moves toward the east coast on Friday, much calmer weather can be expected in North Georgia with mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures.

Pollen levels are also expected to be lower due to the recent rain.
