Texts sent by the wife of Zack Jones, the owner of a cleaning company accused of stealing from his clients, show she suspected her husband of theft.
In one text, she wrote about a missing diamond her husband is accused of stealing. Ithaca Black Jones texted, "(Zack Jones) probably stole it out of someone else's house."
An attorney suing Zack and Ithaca Black Jones included the texts in his lawsuit.
Attorney Michael Hoskins texted Ithaca Black Jones in the attempt to serve her papers on the lawsuit.
"I didn't think she would talk to me. But she did," Hoskins said.
Hoskins is suing on behalf of a client who believes Jones stole from her home.
The Channel 4 I-Team found customers, including cancer patients, claiming the Jones cleaning company had stolen jewelry after cleaning their homes.
The Channel 4 I-Team hired the Jones to clean an apartment we outfitted with hidden cameras.
The video showed Zack Jones scoping out jewelry hidden in the apartment.
When the Channel 4 I-Team returned to pay them, they were gone and so were three of our hidden cameras.
When reached by phone, both Zack and Ithaca Black Jones denied stealing anything.
In another text sent by Ithaca Black Jones to Hoskins, she wrote that her husband was getting jewelry off the streets from other people.
"So I think that's some very damning evidence there," Hoskins said.
In the texts, she also wrote that she never stole anything.
But Hoskins doubts Ithaca Black Jones was unaware of the thefts.
Hoskins said after the Channel 4 I-Team tracked down at least a dozen alleged victims all over the middle Tennessee that district attorneys should get involved.
"Through your investigative reporting to find out that there were so many other victims, it's clear that what we've got is a theft ring and the district attorney should be able to prosecute this as a group theft ring," Hoskins said.
Those texts are now included in the lawsuit and therefore became public record.
In the texts, Hoskins said she didn't know where her husband is and that he could be anywhere in Alabama, Georgia or Tennessee.
The Channel 4 I-Team tried to reach out to Ithaca Black Jones for comment but the phone number we have for her - the same phone number she sent the texts from - is no longer in service.
