Tucson police examining an officer's shooting of a 17-year-old boy accused of pulling a gun on the officer as he fled on foot haven't been able to determine whether the boy was involved in an incident that drew that attention of police in the first place.

Police said the 17-year-old and a 20-year-old man were spotted Sunday morning near a home where a woman complained about people who were ringing her door bell but wouldn't identify themselves.

Spokesman Chris Widmer said investigators hadn't been able to determine whether the boy or 20-year-old were involved in the door ringing.

Widmer says also said it appeared that the two weren't associated with each even though they were walking together.

The teen's injury wasn't life-threatening.

The officer who confronted the teen wasn't injured.
