Police investigate overnight shooting in New HavenPosted: Updated:
A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot three times in New Haven.
It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven market on the corner of Whalley Avenue and East Ramsdell Street.
Police said the victim, an unidentified male, was shot once in the shoulder, once in the right leg, and once in the upper arm.
He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
According to officials, the shooting may have been connected to a party at a nearby motel.
Police have detained several people at that party for questioning.
Residents who live nearby told Eyewitness News it's discouraging to hear about any kind of violence in their area.
"In New Haven it gets worse every day," said Jennifer Jahn, "There aren't enough cops around."
At this point, the investigation is ongoing and police have not identified any possible suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call New Haven police.
