A North Haven woman was arrested Tuesday night after she is accused of breaking a $20,000 piece of hospital equipment.
According to police, Donna Abate, 46, was evaluated by medical officials, however it was determined that she did not need medical attention. After the nurses prepared discharge paperwork, Abate refused to leave the hospital, witnesses told police.
At that point, nurses told police that Abate damaged Pyxys Medstation, which is valued at $20,000.
"I slid it on the floor. It was looking at me," Abate told the nurse why she damaged the machine.
Nurses said they re-evaluated Abate and once again determined that she did not need medical care.
Abate was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and first-degree criminal trespass.
