Missing woman's body found in well, fiance arrestedPosted: Updated:
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the body found in an abandoned well in Franklin County is that of a missing woman.
Bonny Cooner, 33, was last seen Jan. 28 at her home in Canon.
Police said the cause of Cooner's death was strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head.
Police have arrested her fiance, Brent Shubert, in connection with the death. Shubert is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.
In an interview last week, Shubert told CBS Atlanta News he last saw Cooner at home with her 12-year-old son, who was having a friend over for a sleepover.
Shubert told CBS Atlanta News Cooner had been "emotional - highs and lows the past several weeks." He also said, "A lot of people have been looking to me to give answers, and I can't."
On Friday, the GBI said they suspected foul play in Cooner's disappearance.
Investigators said they asked Shubert to come in for another interview and he did not. He was arrested early Sunday morning in a restaurant parking lot in Anderson, SC.
Shubert's extradition hearing is expected to take place on Monday.
