(CNN) -- What was once a mere cult classic is now a potential new series for Amazon.

Amazon Studios is at work on a pilot episode of "Zombieland," based on the 2009 film, and according to Deadline two of the show's lead characters have been cast.

If you caught the movie, you know that it centers on four humans trying to make it during a zombie apocalypse: the "nerdy handsome" narrator Columbus teams up with a man named Tallahassee and two sisters, Wichita and Little Rock.

Portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in the film, the role of Columbus has gone to Tyler Ross, who made a name for himself at Sundance as the star of "Milkshake." The scrappy Little Rock, played by Abigail Breslin on the big screen, has gone to Izabela Vidovic.

Amazon Studios is working with Sony Television on the half-hour comedy, which has "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick adapting the pilot script. They're also executive producing with "Zombieland" producer Gavin Polone.
