Connecticut toy companies talk about latest President Obama figurePosted: Updated:
A Connecticut toy maker has created its own action figure of President Barack Obama shooting clay pigeons.
Once the photo of the president at the shooting range was released, the man behind Herobuilders got to work.
"So we already had them, but we were sitting on them waiting. We were waiting for the right moment," said Emil Vicale of Herobuilders.
Vicale said he is unsure how many of the action figures have been sold, but believes it is more than 1,000.
"We priced them so unbelievably low, recession-proof pricing," he said.
Each Obama action figure costs $29 to make and is being sold for $19.95.
The company is currently waiting on a shipment of heads to finish the latest batch of Obama action figures.
Herobuilders is currently making action figures of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and United States Vice President Joe Biden. However, Vicale said their biggest seller is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
"It was nuts," said Vicale about the sales of the Palin action figure, which is in the thousands. "The nuttiest thing I've ever seen."
Vicale said the key to his business model is not making too much product.
"If they don't sell, you're done," he said.
