UNLV among most popular schools in U.S.Posted: Updated:
University of Nevada, Las Vegas won a popularity contest…sort of.
According to the U.S. News and World Report, the southern Nevada institution was ranked No. 12 on a list of popular universities in the nation.
In the 2013 report, the publication measured schools on the rate of students who apply and end up enrolling.
In the report, about 60 percent of total students who were accepted by the school proceeded to enroll at UNLV in fall 2011.
UNLV was also ranked No. 12 last year and No. 25 the year before that.
"This represents a combination of our recruitment efforts and the evolution of the university and the campus community," said Shannon Goodman, interim associate vice president for enrollment and student services at UNLV. "We are proud of this ranking because as a university we've worked hard to advance our curriculum, services and facilities to attract a high caliber, diverse student population. I believe this is evidenced by a greater proportion of our admitted students choosing to be Rebels."
