Toledo woman sentenced to prison for MI credit union embezzlements
MONROE, MI (Toledo News Now) -
A Toledo woman who looted a Monroe County Catholic Credit Union will spend almost four years in prison.
Sharon Broadway, 62, will also pay back more than $2 million that she stole.
Broadway was sentenced in Monroe County Circuit Court Thursday. Her lawyer says she will be able to make restitution because she has the promise of a job.
Broadway pleaded guilty in the thefts back in December 2012.
Over the course of 20 years, officials say Broadway pocketed the money through aliases and forged checks. The Monroe County United Catholic Credit Union was forced to close in August because of the loss.
However, no members lost money because all the accounts were insured.
