Family escapes fire in SeymourPosted: Updated:
A family in Seymour was able to escape their home after it caught fire Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at a home on Colony Street Extension before 5:30 a.m., according to fire officials.
When firefighters arrived, they said they saw heavy flames coming from the front of the home.
They said three people were inside - a mother, father and son - and they were all able to escape the home without injuries.
"Just the smoke was everywhere ... the whole street was full of smoke," said one unidentified neighbor. "And the people were just running from everywhere. It was bad. It was really bad."
It's unknown how the fire started and it remains under investigation.
The Oxford Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.
