Police searching for snakes stolen from Springfield pet shop

Posted: Updated:

Police in Springfield say they're on the hunt for whoever slithered off with an unusual haul after smashing a pet store window.

Authorities say seven reptiles are missing after a Saturday break-in at Dave's Soda & Pet Food City.

Police say the suspect or suspects stole two leopard geckos, one boa constrictor, one carpet python, one Kenyan sand boa and two corn snakes.

Sgt. John Delaney says the culprits also made off with two laptops and many aquarium filters.

He says the store's alarm company failed to contact police after the crime.

Police are seeking tips from anyone who knows about the break-in or any attempts to sell the animals on the black market.
