A MetroNorth train has collided with a car in Redding, killing an occupant in the car.
It happened just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the area of Long Ridge Road in Redding.
A Subaru traveling south over the tracks was struck by the train.
A spokesman for MetroNorth told Eyewitness News the train was not carrying passengers at the time of the collision.
All four occupants in the car were transported to Danbury Hospital.
One was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials said service to the Danbury branch has been suspended due to the crash. At this point, officials said a bus is being used between Danbury and South Norwalk.
No other details have been released.
