Middletown youth walk for safe driving awarenessPosted: Updated:
Members of the The Middletown Substance Abuse Prevention Council held their seventh annual "White Out" event Friday, promoting safe driving during the holiday season.
The youth-led event featured participants in white T-shirts bearing safe driving messages while walking down Main Street.
"It means more coming from a teenager," Giuliana David told Eyewitness News Friday night. "It's obviously sad, but it's because these people should know better."
David is not old enough to drink, but has seen the consequences of drinking and driving. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, nearly 30 people die each day from alcohol-related car crashes.
"People know better," David said. "Make this decision on your own."
The Main Street march is in its seventh year and the group says it is seeing a difference.
