The New Haven Fire Department is on the scene of a train derailment near the area of Grand Avenue and East Street Thursday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the derailment, fire officials said.

The freight train belongs to Providence and Worcester Railroad.

One or two of the wheels of the locomotive came off the tracks, according the Providence and Worcester Railroad company. The company said Thursday's incident is a "very minor derailment."

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has not been requested and no fluids are believed to have leaked out of the locomotive.
